Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:
- As the school year nears its beginning, Amanda Wood is preparing for the upcoming volleyball season. After 10 years at James Clemens in Madison, the coach is beginning a new chapter in her career with Hoover High School. - Alabama's Big 10 Mayors — including Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato — signed a guest opinion at AL.com in support of Aniah's Law, a ballot issue in November. The law would increase the ability of judges to deny bail to violent offenders. According to the mayors, current policy allows violent offenders to make bail and return to the streets prior to their trial date. Click the link to read the full letter. (AL.com)
- What is teacher salary at schools across Alabama? Pay raises passed by the Alabama Legislature will go into effect on Oct. 1. The top five highest-paying school systems on average are Mountain Brook, Muscle Shoals, Vestavia Hills, Trussville, and Hoover. The lowest-paying school system is Ozark City Schools. (1819 News)
