Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:
- This week, seven players with Alabama roots will be attending the 28th annual NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles. Among the 42 players on the roster is George Pickens from Hoover High School. At the Rookie Premiere, hosted by the NFL Players Association through its marketing and licensing arm NFL Players Inc., and presented by Panini America, the rookies will be photographed in their new NFL uniforms and collect autographs and memorabilia for inclusion in its football-card sets. - On Monday night, the Hoover City Council designated a six-mile-wide area as the city’s central business district for economic redevelopment purposes. The district was recommended by the city’s new Downtown Redevelopment Authority and is limited by state law to six miles in diameter. The designated area stretches from Ross Bridge and the new Everlee development to roughly along I-65, as well as from the former site of Tip Top Grill in Bluff Park to around the Pelham city limits. - With the Alabama primary elections only one week away, Hoover residents should note that some voting precincts have changed. While many previously voted at either the Hoover Met or Finley Center, they will now vote at the Hunter Street Baptist Church. According to Chair of the Jefferson County Democratic Party Wayne Rogers, voters should plan to get to the precinct at a reasonable time. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
