- The Hoover City Dad Brigade is looking for volunteers. The volunteer organization is gearing up for the back-to-school cleanup effort next Saturday, Jul. 30. The workday will begin at 7:00 a.m. and should finish by 10:30 or 11:00 a.m. According to Hoover Councilman Derrick Murphy, who founded the organized cleanup, volunteers don't have to stay the whole time and can stop by for just an hour. - If you're looking for work, there's a job in town for you. Patch put together a list of jobs around town that you're going to want to see. - George Pickens from Hoover High has been signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers for a pretty penny. The wide receiver signed a contract for $6.7 million for four years. $2 million of that was a signing bonus, and $3.1 million is guaranteed. - Do you love cats? Humane Society of West Alabama needs your help. The shelter received sudden structural damage. It had to close its Cat House to new intakes and is looking for long-term fosters for adult cats who need somewhere to live while repairs are done. (Humane Society of West Alabama via Instagram)
