  1. This Saturday, Hoover Ambassadors for Hoover Equity and Diversity (Hoover-AHEAD) will be holding its 2022 Juneteenth celebration. Slated events and performances include West African drumming and dancing, performances by Hoover students, a Juneteenth choir performance, and appearances by local artists. The celebration will take place from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Veterans Park off Valleydale Road. (Hoover Sun)
  2. Hoover City Schools (HCS) are getting 20 new air-conditioned buses. The Hoover City Schools District Transportation Department announced that 13 new 2023 Blue Bird buses have arrived, and seven more are expected in a few weeks. The school buses were a nearly $2 million investment for HCS. (WBRC)
  3. A Hoover teen has been accepted to 15 prestigious universities, including Harvard and Johns Hopkins, with $2 million in scholarships. Rotimi Kukoyi is a high school senior and the first Black National Merit Scholar at his school. He said he was inspired to apply to a number of places after appearing on the "Jeopardy!" Teen Tournament as a freshman in 2018, and meeting high achieving students from across the country. Ultimately, he has decided to attend UNC Chapel Hill and has accepted the school's Morehead-Cain Scholarship, the oldest merit scholarship program in the country. Congratulations! (GMA)
