  3. The Manhattan Transfer and Del McCoury Band are headlining the 2022-23 Hoover Library Theatre season. On Friday, the Hoover Library Theatre announced its 2022-23 season — and according to Fine Arts Director Matina Johnson, at least three shows really are “too big” for the 250-seat venue. Tickets for the upcoming season are slated to go on sale Aug. 23 for returning season ticket holders and Aug. 25 for new people who want full-season tickets. Individual shows go on sale Aug. 26.   • Hoover Fire Department is showcasing Truck 4, located at Fire Station 4 on Municipal Drive close to City Hall. This is a 2017 E-One Ladder Truck — the only E-One in the fleet and the only front-line platform truck. (Hoover Fire Department via Facebook)
  • Going away for a long weekend? Officer Brian Hale of the Hoover Police Department reminds residents to give their house that lived-in feeling while vacationing by setting interior lights, along with radio and TV, to a timer, and using motion sensor exterior lights. (Nextdoor)
