- Last week, the Hoover City Council approved a new agreement that will allow the Hoover Fire Department to join a statewide consortium of fire departments that aid one another in times of emergency. This new agreement, initiated by the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs, will allow the Hoover Fire Department to participate in mutual aid efforts throughout the state — such as responding to fire calls in different areas — in a more formalized way. - The "AL.com Power 25" weekly ranking of high school football teams in Alabama has listed Hoover High School at No. 9 this week. Hoover dropped from No. 4 after a tough loss to Auburn last week. The team is now 0-1 at the start of the season. (AL.com)
- A Birmingham-based organization, COMPACT, has expanded its programming to begin working with schools to combat the rise in vaping popularity among students.
