- The Hoover High Quiz Bowl Team placed 10th in the nation over the weekend. The Hoover High School’s A Team competed against 272 teams from 34 states in the Quiz Bowl 2022 High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta. The team was captained by Chris Cheng and included Kapil Nathan, Midhun Sadanand, and Sarah Xin. Congratulations to all! (Hoover Sun)

- A local pool player recently won the American Poolplayers Association Wheelchair Championship in Las Vegas. David Carr, a skill level 3 player from Midfield, was battling depression when he found an outlet shooting pool at his favorite pool hall, Axe House in Hoover.“I’m still a little bit in shock,” Carr said of the win. - On Tuesday, the Hoover Fire Department held the 2022 Awards Ceremony. 89 members were recognized from the department — four Division Chiefs, 13 District Captains, 18 Lieutenants, 22 Engineers, three Officer Development Program Graduate Classes (2019, 2020 & 2021), two Firefighters of the Year, two Paramedics of the Year, and 26 Retirees.
