  1. Hoover police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a Pelham shopping center late Sunday night, which sent one person to the hospital. According to police reports, at least two people were meeting in the parking lot to carry out the sale of a cell phone, and at some point, three shots were fired. A man was shot twice in the leg and was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, while the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, but was later taken into custody. The investigation is still ongoing. (AL.com)

  3. The man who was fatally struck while standing outside his vehicle on I-59 has been identified as 61-year-old Mark Anthony Johnson, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. The incident occurred during a crash on I-59 Southbound near Exit 130 on the night of Sep. 30, and Johnson was struck by a separate vehicle while outside his car. Investigations into the crash are ongoing. (Newsbreak)

  • The 60th annual Bluff Park Art Show returns this Saturday, Oct. 7, to the Bluff Park Community Park, featuring 130 artists from around the country, live music, and local food trucks. This free art show will feature artworks in a variety of mediums, including clay, glass, jewelry, metalworking, painting, photography, printmaking, 2D and 3D mixed media, ceramics, and sculpture.   • Also occurring this week is the 12th annual Taste of Hoover at Aldridge Gardens, taking place this Thursday, Oct. 5 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Attendees will sample food and beverages from over 40 local restaurants, caterers, and other food and beverage providers as they listen to live musical entertainment.
