  1. According to Niche’s list of the 2023 "Best School Districts in Alabama," Hoover ranked number five state-wide. Ranking factors included state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, public school district ratings, and more. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
  2. On Thursday, state lawmakers and advocates attended a board meeting for the Alabama Public Library Service to address book bans in Alabama libraries. What started as a group of concerned residents over sexually explicit content in children's books in the Prattville library has grown into a statewide effort to remove "obscene" books from Alabama libraries and a state separation from the American Library Association. The board voted to request an opinion from Attorney General Steve Marshall to clarify the board's authority to remove books and separate them from the ALA. (1819 News)
  3. This week, Hoover High School girl's basketball coach Krystle Johnson was named the USA Today High School Sports Awards national Girls Coach of the Year. Johnson guided the program to its ninth state championship last year—five of which were won during her seven-year tenure. Johnson has had a 223-17 career record while coaching at Hoover. (AL.com)
