- Livability.com's "Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S." list named Hoover as one of the best, with a score of 765 out of 1000. The list highlighted its top-rated school system, outdoor areas such as Moss Rock Preserve, and the healthy economy. In addition, Hoover was praised for its professional and high-quality medical facilities such as Children's of Alabama. (AL.com)
- Mike Bolin, Jefferson County's newest commissioner, made the decision to sit out of this week's committee meetings until he is sworn in on Monday. The date got pushed back because his daughter would have been absent, and everything he does is for and about her. This new path for Bolin will be a shift from Alabama's judicial branch to the county's legislative, though Bolin seems optimistic about this transition. (Hoover Sun)
- A new pavilion at Bluff Park Community Park has been cause for celebration in Hoover after its ribbon cutting this week. The new pavilion includes a covered and uncovered area, two restrooms, a store and janitorial room, as well as an electrical closet. The original Bluff Park Community Center needed to be torn down, so officials were contemplating building an indoor space there, though residents urged them to build a pavilion instead. (Hoover Sun)
