Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:

1. High school volleyball season is right around the corner, and AL.com thinks Hoover has what it takes to win. While Spain Park, McGill-Toolen, and Thompson sit at the top of the 7A predictions, Hoover is listed among the "teams to watch" in volleyball this year. 2. Spain Park High School football coach Tim Vakakes is talking a big game ahead of the start of the season. The first-year head coach spent his first nine years at Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham before being hired at SPHS in Hoover. Spain Park, once a major player in high school football, had its worst season ever last year, finishing at just two wins and eight losses. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
