- High school volleyball season is right around the corner, and AL.com thinks Hoover has what it takes to win. While Spain Park, McGill-Toolen, and Thompson sit at the top of the 7A predictions, Hoover is listed among the "teams to watch" in volleyball this year. - Spain Park High School football coach Tim Vakakes is talking a big game ahead of the start of the season. The first-year head coach spent his first nine years at Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham before being hired at SPHS in Hoover. Spain Park, once a major player in high school football, had its worst season ever last year, finishing at just two wins and eight losses. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
