Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

  1. Central Alabama has been experiencing a hospitality worker shortage that worsened during the pandemic. A newly-launched mobile app, Croux, is hoping to solve that. The app, which went live last week, was developed by individuals who work in Birmingham’s hospitality industry. When workers download Croux, they can create a free profile that details their skills, availability, and personal information and are typically vetted within 24 to 48 hours. Once vetted, they can start searching for and picking up extra shifts across Central Alabama. (ABC 3340)
  2. AT&T has 40 local call center positions open and will be hosting a job fair at 1876 Data Drive today (Jun. 13) to help fill them. These are full-time positions with benefits, including medical and dental coverage, 401 (k), tuition reimbursement, and paid time off. Representatives will be at the Hoover AT&T Call Center from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to meet with candidates who have applied online ahead of time. (CBS 42)
  3. The City of Hoover announced that it will host a job fair for the first time in the city’s history. The event will take place tomorrow, Jun. 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Finley Center. The City will be holding on-site interviews for candidates for a variety of job openings. Get the details here. (WBRC)
