Path Cleared Around Overturned Truck On I-65

An overturned truck caused the closure of I-65 Thursday morning at Alford Avenue, and crews were able to clear a path for traffic.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL — Interstate 65 southbound has been closed between Alford Avenue and Montgomery Highway since roughly 4 a.m. due to an overturned box-truck. Crews have cleared a path around the truck now, while still working to clear the rest of the roadway.

Traffic has commenced, but is still slow.

A report from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said at approximately 3:30 a.m., Hoover Police and Fire responded to a report of an overturned truck that lost its cargo on I-65 south. This is a single vehicle accident and no injuries were reported.

The truck was carrying foam insulation, which spilled on the highway as a result of the crash. Hoover Fire Department and the Jefferson County EMA are still on the scene to coordinate clean-up. Motorists are still advised to seek an alternate route.
