- Looking for one of Hoover's best-kept secrets? Bham Now did some hunting and found 11 hidden gems around the Birmingham-Hoover metro. Taboon Noon O Kabab is a Persian restaurant that features fresh-made bread. They offer dips, soups, kababs, and more. Another featured spot is Blue Pacific in Hoover Food Mart. (Bham Now)
- Lanes will be closed on I-65 beginning on Monday, Aug. 15. Construction will begin at 9:00 a.m., weather permitting, and the Department of Transportation will perform routine bridge inspections on the off-ramps to I-459. The outside ramp of each lane will be closed during the inspection and will be re-opened by 3:00 p.m. ALDOT encourages drivers to find an alternate route if possible. (Trussvilletribune)
- Hoover City Schools released a brand new rendering of the Performing Arts Center. The $15.4 million construction was approved unanimously by the Board of Education on Aug. 1. Work is expected to begin in late August and will take 16 to 17 months to complete. The facility will be 36,000 square feet and serve about 47 percent of the student body. (Hoover City Schools)
