Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:

  1. At an intercity forum, Over The Mountain Mayors will speak about domestic and intimate partner violence. The group of mayors from towns including Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Hoover, and Mountain Brook will introduce a new initiative called Amend Together. The event is slated to take place on Oct. 18 at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center at 6:00 p.m. (280 Living)
  2. Tonight's Hoover-Spain Park high school football game will be the first city rivalry game for both coaches. Who will prevail? Coach Vakakes, now at Spain Park, was coaching for Jackson-Olin in 2013 when he faced Hoover in his first season as a head coach. He returns to face Wade Waldrop's Bucs in tonight's matchup at 7:00 p.m. Read AL.com's full game preview at the link. (AL.com)
  3. Birmingham-Hoover landed at number six in the nation for most home inventory. After a long period of hot housing markets, it looks like things may be cooling down. According to the study, released by Stessa, there are 48.9 listings per 10,000 existing homes in the metro, with a median sale price of $277,144.
