Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:
- A new concept for Lids stores is coming to Hoover. Marketed formally as Lids U, the concept focuses on brick-and-mortar locations where shoppers can buy collegiate sports gear. Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers fans will be able to find gear for their favorite team at the mall in Hoover in the upcoming months. The first batch of stores opened in Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; and Austin, Texas on Jul. 22. (Indianapolis Business Journal)
- All kinds of houses are up for sale around town. Whether you prefer a large, expansive estate or a more modest abode, there are plenty of options available in the Hoover area. A home in Chelsea is listed at $3.9 million, with eight beds and twelve baths. Another house in Pelham is $314,000 with four beds and three baths. - A federal forensic service is up for reauthorization this year. The National Computer Forensics Institute, located at the Hoover Public Safety Center, is a federally funded training center for educating law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and judges on cyber and electronic crimes. Legislation has been introduced that would reauthorize the institute through 2028. The NCFI has served since 2008. (FCW.com)

- Hoover City Schools released new information on the new Fine Arts Center to be constructed. The facility will be 36,000 square feet and is expected to serve about 47 percent of Hoover High School students. (Hoover City Schools via Facebook)
