Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:
- After Thompson was crushed 38 to seven by Buford, Georgia, do they still sit on the top of the state high school football rankings? As it turns out, some losses will impact rankings more than others. While Thompson remains at the top of the rankings, Hoover sunk to No. six in the statewide rankings after losing to Auburn. See all top 25 teams ranked at the link. (Montgomery Advertiser)
- A specialist at the Hoover Library has received the Distinguished Service Award. The award was presented in July 2022 for her work on two projects. One project put "little free libraries" in Hoover apartment complexes, via donations from an anonymous donor. The second project was a storywalk at Aldridge Gardens, allowing kids to read a book as they walk through the garden. (Hoover Sun)
- Hoover officials are weighing the option to regulate short term rentals like Airbnb or Vrbo. The services will provide a short-term stay, often for vacationers or short-term workers. While Hoover has so far not placed any regulations on the locations, concerns about neighboring property values and safety near the rentals has mounted. (Alabama's News Leader)
