  1. Area breweries are offering Alabama libations, food, and fun for The World Games visitors and locals. Hoover's Brock’s Gap Brewing Company, which is a softball throw from the Hoover Met sports complex, is the area's newest brewery. On Friday, Jul. 8, they teamed up with the city of Hoover for a World Games Block Party which included live music. (Alabama NewsCenter)
  2. If you're looking for a lunch that'll impress, look no further! Here are nine Black-owned cafés that bring big-time flavor to the area. Included on the list is Hoover's Jake’s Soul Food Café, located at 3075 John Hawkins Pkwy. (Bham Now)
  3. On Wednesday, Jul. 6, members of Hoover High School, Spain Park High School, Berry Middle School, R. F. Bumpus Middle School, and Simmons Middle School softball teams took part in the Old Glory Relay. The flag arrived on Wednesday afternoon at the Hoover City Hall where Hoover schools’ softball team members and Hoover city leaders joined the relay, helping to carry it to Protective Stadium. The relay started in D.C. on May 25 and traveled over 3,100 miles through more than 15 states. (Hoover City Schools)
