Grenade Found In Hoover Traffic Stop A Hoax Device

What was thought to be a hand grenade possessed by a driver in a Hoover traffic stop was not a real grenade, police say.

HOOVER, AL —Hoover police say a grenade found in a truck during a traffic stop Saturday has been examined and is not a real explosive device. The traffic stop was made just after 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Econo Lodge on U.S. 31.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody during the investigation.

Officer Brian Hale of the Hoover Police Department said Monday that the examination of the grenade showed it was not a live grenade.
