Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- The parents of a slain Hoover woman, with the help of the YWCA of Central Alabama, have launched a new program to prevent domestic violence. Megan Montgomery, 31, was shot and killed by her estranged husband over two years ago. Her mother and stepfather are hoping the domestic violence prevention program, called Amend Together, will prevent these kinds of tragedies in the area. The goal of the program is to prevent dating and domestic violence before it starts by partnering with like-minded nonprofits and schools. (thehomewoodstar.com)
- A new pediatric urgent care, Urgent Care for Children, is set to open in the Village at Brock’s Gap in Hoover today. The building passed inspection Monday morning and is ready to serve a need of many in the community. The site has an on-site lab and will be open late on weekdays and weekends to serve children and young adults up to the age of 21. The address for the clinic is 1001 Brocks Gap Pkwy Suite 115, Hoover. (WBRC)
