- David Willingham has been named the Shelby County engineer. Willingham will succeed Randy Cole, who has worked with the county for 31 years. He assumes all of Cole's responsibilities beginning Sep. 1. Willingham is a licensed professional engineeer with more than 26 years of experience. (Hoover Sun)
- The Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education has found a new permanent home. For more than ten years, the program has operated out of Canterbury United Methodist and Shades Valley United Methodist Churches, both of which are located in Mountain Brook. The new campus is located on Corporate Parkway in Meadow Brook. The program provides therapy for kids aged birth to three across Alabama. (Hoover Sun)
- Two of Alabama softball's greatest players have come home for the World Games. Haylie McCleney and Montana Fouts, two legends of Alabama softball, have played side-by-side on Team USA for the World Games. The two both said that the competition, taking place in Hoover, feels like a homecoming for their sports careers. (Sports Illustrated)
