- The Hoover Police Department has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The accreditation is the result of over three years of department work to improve its policies and procedures. Only about five percent of all law enforcement agencies have achieved this "gold standard" of accreditation in the country. (Hoover Sun)
- I Heart Mac & Cheese will be expanding to Hoover. The new location will be opening on Dec. 21 at 11:00 a.m. Bobby Reuse, a Professional NASCAR driver, and Bonita Riddle will be operating the restaurant. Guests will be able to create their own mac and cheese bowl or sandwich at this new concept restaurant. (QSR)
- The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is currently taking applications to become a state-accredited "safer place." The locations will help fill in the county's network of storm shelters. The current network consists of 35 shelters, but some locations are dozens of miles apart. Click for the application details.
