Here are the top 3 stories in Hoover today:

  1. Lauren Sisler, a sports journalist for media outlets such as ESPN, the SEC Network, and al.com, shared an inspirational story at the Hoover Mayor's Prayer Breakfast this year. Here, she opened up about her family's history of drug usage, and how she coped with the death of her parents at the young age of 18. She reminded people that despite the challenges they may be facing, they will persevere and overcome obstacles. (Hoover Sun)
  2. Axhouse Billards will be supporting our veterans by hosting a pool fundraiser on May 14. The event will feature Fast 8 and Double Elimination, as well as a chance to win prizes and raffles. Tickets are $30 and Venmo is accepted. Come out to support a great cause and have a fun, competitive night out! (Trussvilletribune)
  3. Over spring break this year, nine Hoover High seniors spent their time off repairing a well in a Ugandan village, to eliminate the five-mile walk many people in the village take to drink clean water. For nine years, the community did not have access to clean water, and when kids would drink water from the lake, they got sick. While there, the mission group also served the people of the village healthy lunches and helped in building an outdoor kitchen. (Over the Mountain Journal)
