- 36 graduating seniors were recently honored at The Hoover Belles mother-daughter luncheon. According to the Hoover Belle Committee, the senior Belles who just graduated together volunteered 1,691 community service hours over the past two years — the second-highest total in the Belles’ history. Aanya Noorani was The Hoover Belle with the most community service hours, having volunteered 187 hours with the Belles and working 57 percent of the Belles’ service events over the past two years. - A Hoover gym held its annual Memorial Day Murph Challenge honoring a fallen Navy SEAL Lieutenant. On Monday, Godspeed Elite Sports Academy hosted the difficult, but popular, workout which consists of a one-mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, and then another one-mile run. The Murph Challenge was created in honor of U.S. Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, who was one of 19 killed in action during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in Jun. 2005. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
