🌱 Record High Tax Revenue + Finley Center Hosts AHSAA Basketball Camp

Morning, everybody! I'm back with your new copy of the Hoover Daily. Let's get this Wednesday started off right, with a quick review of the most important things going on in town.

Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- The Alabama High School Athletic Association hosted its first-ever basketball camp at the Finley Center last weekend. A total of 165 basketball teams took part in the camp. Each team was guaranteed to play four basketball games, and a total of 660 games were played. Central High School head coach Willie Moore said that it was "fun playing different teams from different parts of the state." (wvua23.com)
- Move United, a community-based sports and recreation group for individuals with disabilities, has selected Hoover to host the 2023 Move United Nationals. The largest and longest-standing national sports championship for athletes with a physical, visual, and/or intellectual disability has been hosting a national competition for adult athletes since 1957. - Hoover had a record year for tax collections in 2021. Sales and use tax revenues rose 18 percent to $99.8 million and overall tax revenues rose 14 percent to $127 million. That booming financial year gave the city a $34 million boost to $82.2 million. The City Council approved two new policies designed to prepare for what council members believe will be tough times ahead. (Hoover Sun)

- The city of Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato issued a proclamation in recognition of Jordan Carraway, Miss Hoover 2022. The beauty queen will be headed to the Miss Alabama competition next week. (City of Hoover via Facebook)

- Hoover YMCA is opening registration for teens 13-15 for Small Group Training in July. The training group meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (Hoover YMCA via Facebook)
