  1. Rents are up across Alabama, and people are feeling the squeeze. According to data from QuoteWizard, rent has gone up 27 percent in Hoover in the last two years. That's just above the national average, which has risen 25 percent. The problem is that rent is outpacing income. "A lot of people aren't making $1,200 a year more," said Nick VinZant, an analyst with the company. (WBRC)
  2. Hoover High School's Ethan Hubbard has committed to Duke University. The three-star OT announced his decision on Wednesday. He received offers from Akron, Central Michigan, and many others before selecting Duke. (247Sports)
  3. All the lights and sounds will be returning to the Hoover Met on Friday night. The Independence Day fireworks show, hosted by the City of Hoover, will be at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium beginning at 9:00 p.m. While the stadium itself won't be open to the public, the parking lots around the complex will be open for people to park and set up shop before the show begins.
