Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

  1. Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato is asking people to approve a statewide amendment on the general election ballot. On the Nov. 8 ballot, voters will be asked to decide on an amendment to “Aniah’s Law” which, according to Brocato, is a critical measure that the mayors of the state’s 10 largest cities have gotten behind. An op-ed piece quoted in the mayor's release states that the measure would "ensure judges have a means to keep dangerous criminals off the streets and prevent similar tragedies in the future." (Hoover Sun)
  2. Do you recognize the driver of this car? The Hoover Police Department is looking for two suspects who are wanted for questioning in an Unlawful breaking and entering of a
    vehicle on Aug. 20.
Several hundred dollars in cash were stolen from the dark Toyota Rav4. Anybody with information on the driver of the vehicle is asked to contact Detective Todd Henningsen at (205) 444-7534. (Hoover PD)
  3. In the wake of a water system emergency, Hoover is helping our neighboring state of Mississippi. The City of Birmingham, in partnership with Christian Service Mission, is currently hosting a water and supplies drive for Jackson, Mississippi residents. Now through Sep. 8, residents can drop off paper products (such as paper towels and toilet paper), bottled water, and cleaning supplies in front of Boutwell Auditorium at 1930 Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. (about 10 miles from Hoover). Donations are accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Bham Now)
