- The City of Mobile will be hosting a STEM Fest this month. The free Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event is intended for local K-12 students. The event will take place on Nov. 19; interested students can register here. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- A couple of Mobile laundry pod thieves got away clean as a whistle last week. According to police, 25-year-old Jerome Williamson and an unidentified woman walked into the Dollar General Store on Springhill Avenue last Tuesday and stole as many containers of laundry pods as they could carry. Williamson, who is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds, has been charged with second-degree robbery. Anybody with information is asked to contact the FOX10 News Fugitive Files-Crime Stoppers Hotline at 251-208-7211. (Fox10)
- Over the past month, Mobile county hospitals have seen skyrocketing flu cases in kids. According to USA Health, positive flu cases among children have risen by more than 1360 percent in just a month’s time. “It’s a situation that has driven multiple hospitals to be almost at full capacity in the entire country,” Dr. Benjamin Estrada, a Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist with USA Health said. Anyone older than six months is recommended to get the flu shot now. (WKRG News 5)
