1. Mobile PD: Man dies after parking lot altercation (utv44.com) — Mobile Police are investigating a deadly altercation in a parking lot off St. Stephens Road near Seale Street, where a man later died at the hospital. Officers say the other person involved is cooperating, and a separate collision with a responding MPD unit caused only minor vehicle damage and no major injuries.

2. Alabama senator aims to stop cities from taxing non-residents in new legislative proposal (utv44.com) — Mobile shoppers could see big changes to how much sales tax the city collects from non-residents under a new proposal from Sen. Greg Albritton. His bills would block cities like Mobile from keeping their share of in-store sales taxes paid by out-of-towners, a move tied to the ongoing statewide fight over online sales tax distribution.

3. Mobile's maritime museum, once projected to draw 300,000 visitors, never came close (fox10tv.com) — Mobile’s waterfront maritime museum is trying to reinvent itself after years of disappointing attendance and a costly, debt-laden launch. With city debt now paid off, leaders are banking on new Jimmy Buffett and Mobile-Tensaw Delta exhibits, free admission during summer construction, and more local visitors to turn the museum into a must-stop destination on the Mobile River.

Alabama high school cross country: Coastal Alabama's Super 7 (al.com) — Mobile-area runners just wrapped standout cross-country seasons, with Faith Academy’s Evan May and Bayshore Christian’s Allie McTaggart named Coastal Alabama Runners of the Year by coaches from Mobile and Baldwin counties. Several other athletes from Mobile County schools, including Saraland, Baker, Satsuma, and McGill-Toolen, also earned Super 7 recognition for strong sectional, county, and state meet performances.
