Here are the top three stories in Montgomery today:

  1. A new bill approved by the House Safety and Homeland Security Committee would address street racing through criminal penalties. The bill was introduced by Rep. Allen Treadaway, R-Morris, to crack down on street racing, vehicle burnouts, donuts, stunts, races, and speed exhibitions, according to House Bill 29. Earlier this month, the Alabama Big 10 Mayors (representing Alabama's biggest ten cities, including Montgomery) said they supported the legislation. (AL Daily News)
  2. Lifetime Montgomery resident and founder of Caddell Construction John Caddell died this week at the age of 93. The popular construction company was founded in 1983, and Caddell was able to accomplish what many haven't in this industry — international market expansion. Caddell's wife Joyce was a co-founder of the company and died in March 2017. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced for Caddell. (Alabama News)
  3. The Pretrial Alliance Montgomery hosted a listening session at the Montgomery City-County Library on Tuesday to discuss thoughts or questions surrounding the pretrial justice system. Mongomery County Circuit Court Judge Johnny Hardwick specifically requested that anyone affected by the bail process speak about their experience. (WVAS FM)
