• Montgomery hospital sues Blue Cross, argues insurer ‘destabilized' Alabama health care, caused bankruptcy (al.com) — Jackson Hospital in Montgomery has filed a major lawsuit accusing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama of underpaying it for years, which the hospital says pushed it into bankruptcy and threatens its survival. If Jackson closes, 1,800 local jobs and critical emergency care capacity in Montgomery could be lost, while Blue Cross counters that it has raised rates and disputes claims of unfair treatment.
