Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:

  1. Montgomery police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that led to the death of a child; the crash occurred on Sunday, Mar. 26, in the 5300 block of Troy Highway. A man, woman, and child who were in one of the vehicles involved were all taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the child was later pronounced dead. The two people in the other vehicle were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (AlabamaNews.net)
  2. On Mar. 24, the Montgomery Regional Airport celebrated the completion of its newest $6 million improvements for boarding efficiency, convenience, and safety. Improvements include new passenger boarding bridges and a terminal ramp expansion. The ramp will help larger aircraft access the airport, and the old bridges were replaced due to age and wear.   3. The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Alabama State Championship, the largest youth archery competition in Alabama, will be held in Montgomery on Apr. 6 and Apr. 7. The event will be held at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl at 220 Hall Street. About 2,000 student archers in grades four through 12 will compete for the title of state champion and the opportunity to advance to the NASP Eastern National Championship in May.   • On Mar. 24, Montgomery police arrested 33-year-old Laddavious Howard in connection to the Mar. 16 fatal shooting of 43-year-old Darius Mitchell. Howard is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility. (AL.com)
