Superintendent Recommends Remote Learning Days Amid COVID Surge
With a surge in COVID-19 cases among students and staff in Trussville City Schools, schools may go virtual a few days in February.
TRUSSVILLE, AL β Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Trussville City Schools, superintendent Pattie Neill suggested to the Board of Education this week that some days in February be set aside for virtual learning, according to a Trussville Tribune report.
Neill proposed Friday, February 4 and Friday, February 18 be remote learning and instructional days.
βI want to start by saying that Jefferson County is in a surge,β Neill said. βEverybody knows thereβs a surge in COVID numbers. Not a lot we can do about that. But I will say it is 15 days since winter break, and none of those 15 days have been alike. Weβve had some students out some students are back. Some students had COVID, some teachers were out some teachers are back. It has been very, very, very inconsistent.β
