48th Annual West Alabama Christmas Parade Set For Dec. 9

PARA is gearing up for the 48th Annual West Alabama Christmas PARAde, which is set for Monday, Dec. 9.

Tuscaloosa, AL — Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) is gearing up for the 48th Annual West Alabama Christmas PARAde, which is set for Monday, Dec. 9.

The event will once again feature a lineup of floats, marching bands, walking groups, horse units, and decorated vehicles. The PARAde will commence at 6:30 p.m., following the tree lighting ceremony at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse at 5:15 p.m.

Community members are also invited to vote for the 2024 PARAde theme. The choices are: "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Christmas for a Cause," and "Santa's Workshop."

What's more, nominations are being accepted for the 2024 PARAde Grand Marshal, a role that honors individuals who have made significant contributions to West Alabama.

PARA says nominations can be submitted online, by email or by mail.

The deadline for submissions is Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.

Parade entry registration will open in late August or early September and remain open until Nov. 15.

PARA also said the Parade Participant Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 5:45 p.m. at the Belk Activity Center.
