Wood is credited with helping the Tide secure back-to-back top-25 recruiting classes since joining the Tide in 2023.
“Over the past two years, Garrett Wood has shown that he is a star in the making in the coaching world,” Vaughn said. “Mikey White did such an amazing job in the player development role over the last two seasons, and I know Garrett will do an incredible job of filling his shoes.”

Wood — a former Ole Miss team captain — played in 70 games during his collegiate career, including two seasons at Johnson County Community College, where he earned NJCAA Second Team All-Academic honors. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ole Miss and married the former Whitney Converse in January 2024.
Rainey returns to Tuscaloosa after serving as a Major League pitching analyst with the Cincinnati Reds. He previously spent two seasons (2023-24) at Alabama as director of player strategy.
“Bringing back Kasen Rainey as our director of analytics was one of the easiest decisions that we’ve ever made,” Vaughn said. “When you combine him with Jason Jackson and Mike Morrison, our pitchers are in incredible hands.”
Rainey’s resume includes roles with Sacramento State, Full Count Baseball, and the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett. A graduate of the University of North Georgia, he married the former Caroline Odum in January 2023.
