TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating an early-morning shooting in Tuscaloosa that left one man dead, with the shooter claiming self-defense.

Captain Marty Sellers told local media Sunday morning that the shooting occurred around 3:15 a.m. in the 3300 block of Willow Ridge Lane.

He said Investigators said a man shot another man following a physical altercation between the two.
Sellers confirmed the man who was shot died from his injuries and the shooter later arrived at Tuscaloosa Police headquarters to speak with officers and told investigators he had acted in self-defense.
