Despite a slow start for the passing game in the first half and Georgia jumping out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter, Tide sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe finished the first half 6-of-12 passing for 110 yards, with touchdown passes to Jam Miller and Jermaine Burton. This performance was good enough to give the Tide a 17-7 lead going into the locker room.
Defense and big mistakes dominated the second half, with Georgia surrendering a costly fumble on a botched exchange in the third quarter that seemed to give the Tide the momentum.

However, the Bulldogs would hang tough and close the distance with 2:52 left in the game to close the distance to one score at 27-24.
In total, Milroe finished 13-for-23 through the air for 192 yards and two touchdowns in the win, while senior running back Roydell Williams led the way on the ground with 63 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown.
Crimson Tide kicker Will Reichard, a native of Hoover, also made history in the win, hitting a field goal early in the first quarter to become the NCAA's all-time scoring leader.
Still, despite running the table in the SEC, winning the conference title and finishing with a 12-1 record, Alabama's postseason hopes remain uncertain — especially after Texas, the only team to best the Tide, won the Big 12 title over Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The four teams selected for the College Football Playoff will be announced Sunday at 11 a.m. CST on the College Football Playoff Selection Show.
