Midsouth Paving is the contractor on the project and will only be allowed to close lanes between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to reduce the impact on traffic.

ALDOT says this approach takes less time than a traditional full resurfacing project and extends the lifespan of the pavement.

The agency then said lane closures will not be allowed from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning when the University of Alabama has a home football game.
