ALDOT Announces Highway 11 Bridge Replacement In Cottondale

ALDOT on Monday plans to replace and widen the U.S. Highway 11 bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad near Clearview Hills in Cottondale.

TUSCALOOSA – The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Monday plans to replace and widen the U.S. Highway 11 bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad near Clearview Hills in Cottondale.

ALDOT said the new bridge will have one lane in each direction and a dual left-turn lane, whle a sidewalk is also planned for the east side of the bridge.

Montgomery firm Newell & Bush was awarded the project for $6.19 million.

Work on the project is expected to begin Monday, Jan. 15 and continue until next fall.

Additionally, state officials said the new bridge will be built adjacent to the current bridge. For commuters, this will mean no lane closures other than from June through July.
