ALDOT To Begin Interstate Bridge Repair Project Monday
(ALDOT) on Thursday announced plans to repair 15 bridge decks and install new guardrails at various locations on I-20/59 westbound.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Thursday announced plans to repair 15 bridge decks and install new guardrails at various locations on I-20/59 westbound.

ALDOT says the work will be conducted from near milepost 64 to near Exit 71 in Tuscaloosa County.

Motorists can expect lane closures beginning Monday, Jan. 6, and will continue until summer 2025.
ALDOT said the contractor — Comanche Construction — will be required to keep at least one lane open at all times and is not allowed to have more than a two-mile lane closure.

The Georgia-based firm was awarded the project at $4.59 million.
ALDOT went on to say that the contractor substantially completed a similar project on the eastbound side of the interstate earlier this year but will now spend approximately two weeks on the eastbound side to finish the final bridge deck.
