ALDOT To Conduct Bat Survey On Tuscaloosa Bridges Next Month
ALDOT on Tuesday announced plans to conduct a bat survey on bridges along U.S. Highway 82 next month.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Tuesday announced plans to conduct a bat survey on bridges along U.S. Highway 82 next month.

The survey will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 3, focusing on the Woolsey Finnell Bridge, Campus Drive Bridge and railroad bridge west of Campus Drive.

Transportation officials are required by federal regulations to look for bat roosting sites to ensure that construction activities minimize disturbances to the local bat population.
ALDOT said to facilitate the survey, the Highway 82 westbound outside lane will be closed at 7 a.m. and is expected to reopen later in the afternoon.

ALDOT then said that following this, the Highway 82 eastbound outside lane will be
closed and should reopen by 7 p.m. Delays for motorists can be expected.
