ALDOT To Hold Meeting About Highway 216 Resurfacing In Brookwood

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., which will allow the public to ask questions and view exhibits.

BROOKWOOD, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Monday announced it will host an informal come-and-go style public meeting at the G.G. Hardin Center in Brookwood to discuss a potential resurfacing project on Highway 216.

ALDOT says the meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., which will allow the public to ask questions and view exhibits regarding the proposed project.

The project would include resurfacing Highway 216 from just south of the Jack's restaurant near Covered Bridge Road, ending at George Richmond Parkway.

ALDOT says additional improvements include: sidewalks, dedicated left turn lanes, raised medians and modified entrances, all with the goal of improving safety and mobility.

ALDOT will work on the improvements in phases and the road will remain open during construction, although a few short nighttime or weekend closures may be necessary.

Construction is expected to start in mid-2024 and will take approximately six months.
