ALDOT To Host Meeting In Northport About Major Intersection Project

The meeting will be to discuss a potential project at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and U.S. Highway 43.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced plans on Monday to host an informal come-and-go public meeting at the Northport Civic Center to discuss a potential project at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and U.S. Highway 43.

The meeting is set for Monday, Sept. 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., which will allow members of the public to ask questions and view exhibits relating to the project, which will feature new turn lanes at the intersection, along with an additional through lane on U.S. Highway 43 northbound.

ALDOT says more than 59,000 vehicles use the intersection per day and the goal of the project is to improve traffic flow and safety.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in late 2024 and will take approximately two years to complete.
