ALDOT To Host Public Meeting For $125M Woolsey Finnell Bridge Replacement Project
The meeting is scheduled for April 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the public offered the chance to ask questions and view exhibits.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced on Tuesday that it will host a come-and-go public meeting at University Church of Christ to discuss a potential project involving the replacement of the Woolsey Finnell Bridge in Tuscaloosa.

ALDOT says the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the public offered the chance to ask questions and view exhibits regarding the proposed project.

Work on the $125 million project is expected to begin in spring 2025 and will take approximately 3 to 3.5 years to complete. T
ALDOT then said it plans to replace the bridge with a more modern structure to handle traffic demands with three through-traffic lanes in each direction, along with bicycle and pedestrian lanes.

What's more, the 1.42-mile project is also expected to include ramp modifications at Jack Warner Parkway and Campus Drive, in addition to upgrades for U.S. Highway 82 with additional lanes and signal optimization.
At present, ALDOT reports that more than 50,000 vehicles use the bridge each day.
ALDOT says it plans to keep two lanes open in each direction at all times in the hope of alleviating traffic impacts.
