ALDOT To Install Girders For Big Creek Bridge In Coker Next Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Friday announced it will close lanes on U.S. Highway 82 in Coker next week as crews place girders for a new bridge over Big Creek.

ALDOT says rolling lane closures are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29 and 30, as workers set 14 girders on the future westbound bridge, part of the ongoing U.S. Highway 82 bridge replacement project.

Seven girders are expected to be placed each day.
Officials say traffic in the westbound lanes will be stopped for up to 15 minutes at a time during each placement. No closures will occur before 8:30 a.m. or after 2:30 p.m. to reduce delays.

A state trooper will assist with traffic control during the work.
