ALDOT Interstate Work In Tuscaloosa County To Begin Next Week

ALDOT says work will commence Monday, Jan. 8 and continue until summer 2024.

TUSCALOOSA, AL— The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Tuesday announced plans to repair bridge decks and install new guardrails at various locations on Interstate 20/59 eastbound, with work beginning next week.

The improvements will be implemented from near milepost 64 to near milepost 72 in Tuscaloosa County. The $4.59 million contract was awarded to Georgia-based Comanche Construction.

ALDOT says work will commence Monday, Jan. 8 and continue until summer 2024.

As part of the project, ALDOT said the contractor is required to keep at least one lane open at all times and is not allowed to have more than a two-mile lane closure.

ALDOT cautioned motorists to expect delays and observe work-zone speed limits.
