​ALDOT To Resurface Stretch Of Highway 216 In Tuscaloosa County

The 11.6-mile project will be from the junction of Alabama Highway 215 to the junction of Lock 17 Road in Brookwood

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Tuesday announced plans to resurface, install guardrail and place new traffic striping on a portion of Alabama Highway 216 in Tuscaloosa County.

ALDOT says the 11.6-mile project will be from the junction of Alabama Highway 215 to the junction of Lock 17 Road in Brookwood, with the goal of improving mobility and safety.

The project bid was awarded to APAC-Alabama for $5.16 million.

State highway officials expect work to begin Monday, July 15 and continue until the end of the
year, weather permitting.

ALDOT says flaggers and/or a pilot car will guide traffic through portions of the work zone during this time, with lane closures prohibited from 6:30 a.m. through 8:30 a.m. in an effort to reduce impacts to traffic.

What's more, lane closures will be prohibited on weekends when the University of Alabama has a home football game.
