ALDOT Set To Resurface, Widen Stretch Of I-20/59

Work on the two-mile, $6.51 million project is slated to begin this week, with ALDOT aiming for completion in fall 2022.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced plans to resurface and widen a stretch of portion of Interstate 20/59 beginning this week. The two-mile, $6.51 million project is slated for completion in fall 2022.

ALDOT said the road work, which will be conducted at night, will take place from near Exit 71 to near Exit 73 in Tuscaloosa to improve mobility and safety.

S.T. Bunn Construction is the contractor on the project and will be required to keep two lanes open in each direction outside of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. to reduce the impact on traffic.
