ALEA Seeks Person Of Interest In Perry County Homicide Investigation

SBI has launched a homicide investigation in Perry County after a 68-year-old man was found dead Wednesday in Marion.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has launched a homicide investigation in Perry County after a 68-year-old man was found dead Wednesday in Marion.

SBI identified the victim as Jeffery Holifield, who was found dead in the 2000 block of Onrow Tubbs Road.

Following an initial investigation, Anastassja “Anya” Cooper, 32, of Marion, has been identified as a person of interest in the case.

SBI officials are asking for the public’s help in locating Cooper — described as a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 216 pounds.

Investigators also said she may be traveling with a mixed-breed dog named “Banana.”

Anyone who sees Cooper or has information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the State Bureau of Investigation at (334) 850-0910.

The investigation remains ongoing and no additional details have been released.
