Hamlin said Clark has an extensive criminal history, including prior convictions for felony theft, drug distribution, violent misdemeanor assault and multiple domestic violence offenses.
“The severity of this defendant's past and present actions illustrates a clear and present danger to both his victims and the broader community,” Hamlin said. “This sentence sends a strong message that domestic violence, particularly repeat offenses, will not be tolerated in the 24th Circuit.”

Hamlin said the attack occurred on Feb. 8, 2022, when Clark choked the victim and threatened her life before initially fleeing the scene and later returning with a knife.
He went on to say that Clark attempted to stab the woman and, although she managed to block the knife, she sustained cuts during the struggle.
Assistant District Attorney Kaleb Beams, who managed the guilty plea and sentencing, praised the victim for her courage.
“It was an honor to stand with the victim as she faced her abuser and a man who has repeatedly committed domestic violence in Pickens County,” Beams said. “The court’s decision holds Mr. Clark accountable for his violent actions and serves as a warning that domestic abuse will not be tolerated.”
